EXPERIENCES AND BEST PRACTICES
How to ensure protection, assistance and prevention systems for survivors of sexual violence
On October 16, 2023, the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania hosted an international regional discussion focused on effective protection, assistance, and prevention systems for survivors of sexual violence. The objective of this discussion was to exchange experiences and to share the best practices on how to fight sexual violence, including in war conditions, and how to help survivors.
According to the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, 1 in 10 women has experienced sexual violence since the age of 15, and one in 20 has been raped.
Sexual violence remains a partially hidden and latent problem in our society, with its full extent not yet fully realized.
